Amazon Studios
Amazon, the tech giant, is moving its production company, Amazon Studios to Culver City. In addition to leasing property at the Culver Studios complex, Amazon is also leasing 75,000 square feet of space at the Culver Steps development. When combined, Amazon will have 350,000 square feet of space in Culver City. In addition to the production arm of Amazon, Amazon Studios also deals with the company’s advertising, video, and movie site known as IMDb. Amazon has already begun moving to Culver Studios from Santa Monica.
Culver Steps plans to open early 2019. The office space of the complex will be completely taken by Amazon. In addition to office space, Culver Steps will also include 45,000 square feet for retail and restaurants as well as a public plaza.
Apple
Apple, a rival to Amazon, is also moving to Culver City. They will be expanding their film production into Culver City as well. Apple will locate to an office complex that is currently under construction at the corner of Washington and National Boulevards and will open in late 2019. This space was originally designated for HBO. Additionally, Apple is leasing another 75,000 square feet at a new building on Jefferson Blvd.
Media Hub To the Area
Culver City is quickly becoming a media hub for the area. Other big production groups include:
- Omnia Media, a subsidiary of Blue Ant Media
- NFL Media
- Sony Music
- Fullscreen Media
- And more
As Culver City continues to bring in new businesses, we will see the area grow. Current housing prices reflect this growth with median prices in the area at $1.16 million, up from $373,000 just six years ago. Trends show no signs of slowing down. If you want to buy or sell in Culver City, give me a call. I’d be happy to discuss the current market.
