Each month, I like to share a referral to someone in the real estate field that is beneficial to my clients. My goal is to provide sources that can help beautify their current homes, get their homes ready to sell, or produce a custom home for them to live. This month’s pick, Handcrafted Construction, builds beautiful custom homes and renovates kitchens and bathrooms.

About Handcrafted Construction
Based in Culver City, Handcrafted Construction is known for both their custom new builds and their large remodels. They understand that building a home is a huge investment in time, money, and emotion. That’s why Handcrafted Construction (HC) works hard to keep the process organized and communicate with their clients. Unlike many competitors, HC works to keep a sense of calm during the building process.
One way this is done is through the employees and subcontractors. The founder, Damon Allred, has a strong design background. He has worked with the same in-house employees and subcontractors for years, making the process run like a well-oiled machine. All of this leads to a comprehensive approach to building a home.
And Damon knows his process works because he does no advertising. All of the work that comes to Handcrafted Construction comes by referral. This testifies of the HC reputation that continues to grow one satisfied client at a time.
About Damon Allred, Owner and President
Damon grew up with construction in his blood. His dad was a builder and made sure that Damon knew how to fix and build before he was even a teenager. Whether it was fixing a sink, welding a seam, or hanging a door, he knew what to do.
Despite the construction background, Damon originally worked as a writer and designer on both coasts before settling in Culver City to start Handcrafted Construction. Now, HC is his passion, and he loves taking care of his customers.
Going Green
Damon has entered into the Green space, understanding that though the initial cost of building may be a bit more, the cost savings over time can be worth it for many of his clients. He has many ways to build smart and go green.
For instance, HC can
- Use alternative building materials for framing such as insulated concrete block or a plywood with less formaldehyde.
- Access a wide range of HVAC units, including ductless systems, radiant flooring, and heat pumps.
- Install recycled glass and other products instead of traditional tile and countertops.
