Culver City is growing, and it’s growing in a way that is likely to attract a lot of attention from millennials and others looking for walkability. Enter Culver Steps.
What is Culver Steps?
It is a mixed-use development that will contain retail space, office space, and public space. Considered a walkable urban hub, this project is finally under construction with a completion date in 2019.
As a four-story building, the top floors will house office space, while the lower floor will hold shops and dining. It is called Culver Steps because it features a grand staircase that comes down the side of the building. This staircase will feature terraces and seating, making it a place to enjoy and relax. Many believe the Culver Steps will be the new center of downtown.
How Big Is It?
Culver Steps is a large complex. It will contain:
- 75,000 square feet of offices
- 40,000 square feet of retail space
- 35,000 square feet of public plaza
Finally Here
In 2012, the Culver City Council agreed to the plans for Culver Steps. However, the development rights sold and recently closed when Hackman Capital Partners bought it. Hackman has other projects in Culver City and loves the area. After almost six years, the project will finally begin.
