As the Westside Real Estate market continues to grow, there are a number of really exciting revitalization projects and new commercial developments well underway. If you’re like me and enjoy eating, shopping, going to the movies, walking in the park, and simply finding fun entertainment, then you will be excited to learn about these projects coming to The Westside.
Revitalization Location: Westfield Mall In Century City
The $950 million Westfield Mall expansion will create 1.2 million square feet of space for more than 200 luxury, contemporary, and international designer brands. Additionally, the mall will feature a three-level Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s, plus a two-level Macy’s.
Although dining and shopping are the main attractions, shoppers will also be able to stroll through gardens and tree-lined pathways across the eight acres of open space. Westfield intends to become the destination of Century City for special events, art exhibits, music, and wine sampling.
This amazing revitalization project will create approximately 10,000 new retail and construction jobs and is projected to generate $1.4 billion in economic output.
Revitalization Location: The Lincoln Boulevard Development
The redevelopment of a three-block stretch of Lincoln north of the I-10 Freeway is meant to do more than help address the city’s housing shortage. This project will also bring in new business to the area and provide for parking to new residents. The hope is to transform the southeast end of the boulevard from auto shops and defunct stores to highrise mixed-use buildings.
In addition to the residential units, the area will feature an Expo Light Rail station, bicycle parking, subterranean garage parking, and thousands of square feet of commercial space. According to Canyon News, “Lincoln Boulevard was selected to be renovated due to its city views, and proximity to the Third Street Promenade, the Metro, and the I-10 Freeway.”
With the increase in housing, trendy stores such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Tesla, conveniences such as a nearby pharmacy and grocery stores, and even a new Courtyard Hotel, there is no doubt that the Lincoln Boulevard area of Santa Monica is up and coming.
Revitalization Location: Palisades Village
Although stores have existed for years around Swarthmore Avenue, Palisades Village is being revitalized. According to the website, the village will be “a collection of charming storefronts … and will once again be a favorite community gathering place and centerpiece of the neighborhood. Approachable, unique, diverse and exciting—we envision a neighborhood gathering spot with an enjoyable variety of shopping, dining, personal services and community gathering spaces.”
In addition to unique shops in a walkable village, there will be:
- Great restaurants that range from family to fine dining
- Outdoor Dining
- Vintage Grocers, a classic hometown specialty market
- Bay Theater
- Park
- Community Room for neighborhood events
So, whether you are looking to buy or have lived on the Westside for years, you’re sure to enjoy the area as it continues to grow and boom.
