New condos are under construction in West Hollywood known as The Harland. R&A Architecture + Design, along with interior designer Marmol Radziner, are working to create a new icon of California modernism within these 35 residences. They work to collaborate with all parties impacted by their projects to create trust. Finally, they look for creative, innovative solutions and look to research to help them stay fresh.
Architecture of The Harland
The Harland embraces the easy access between indoor and outdoor living. Each condo offers outdoor terraces with complete privacy. On the inside, they used lace-like screens for both beauty and to allow easy access to the outdoors.
Despite the privacy, the way the buildings are arranged helps create a sense of community. The zone on the west is four stories high, while the zone on the east, which is close to a low-rise neighborhood, is only three stories. The eastern buildings alternate set-ins, allowing light to come into the units on three sides. The zones incorporate an interior courtyard perfect for neighborly interactions.
